纳米硫化银纸浆复合纤维的

摘 要:利用原位合成法制备纳米硫化银纸浆复合纤维,并以此复合纤维制备抑菌纸。采用X射线衍射分析(XRD)、扫描电子显微镜(SEM)和能量色散X射线光谱(EDX)对制备的复合纤维抑菌纸进行了分析,证明复合纤维抑菌纸的表面存在硫化银纳米颗粒。实验探究了制备条件(硫源种类、反应温度、反应时间和反应物浓度)对复合纤维抑菌纸抑菌性能的影响,发现影响复合纤维抑菌纸抑菌性能的主要因素是硫源和温度;以硫化钠为硫源、室温下制备的复合纤维抑菌纸具有最好的抑菌性能;纳米硫化银纸浆复合纤维抑菌纸的适宜制备条件:硫化钠为硫源,浓度为0.005 mol/L,硝酸银浓度为0.01 mol/L,在20℃下反应2.0 h。

Abstract:Nano silver sulfidepulp composite fibers were successfully prepared by using insitu synthesis process. The antibacterial paper sample made of the composite fibers was analyzed using Xray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscope (SEM) and energy dispersive Xray spectroscopy (EDX), and the results confirmed the existence of silver sulfide nanoparticles on the surface of the paper. The effects of preparation conditions (sulfur source types, temperature, time and reactant concentration) on the antimicrobial property were explored, it was found that the main factors influencing the antibacterial property of the paper were sulfur source and temperature. The composite fibers prepared by using sodium sulfide as sulfur source had good antibacterial activity, but those prepared by using sulfourea and sodium hyposulfite as sulfur source had no antibacterial activity. The composite fibers prepared at room temperature had the best antibacterial property.

水分对芳纶纸基材料热压

摘 要:研究了在热压过程中水分含量对芳纶纸基材料机械性能和电气性能的影响,采用扫描电镜(SEM)、全自动压汞仪(MIP)和X射线衍射仪(XRD)研究了湿热压后芳纶纸的表面形貌、孔隙结构和结晶度的变化。结果表明,随着湿纸水分含量的增加,结晶度相应增加,水分含量为120%时,结晶度达到最大值为71.17%,比干纸增加了59.39%,热压后芳纶纸表面平整、内部结构紧密,芳纶纸机械性能和电气性能也随之增强。

Effect of Moisture Content of PPTA Paperbased Composite in

Abstract:In this study the effect of moisture content of PPTA paperbased composite in hot calendering process on its mechanical and electrical properties was investigated. The surface morphology, the pore structure parameters and crystallinity of PPTA aramid paper were studied by using scanning electron microscopy(SEM), automatic mercury porosimeter(MIP) and Xray diffraction(XRD) respectively. The results showed that the paper surface and the internal structure became more smooth and close, the crystallinity of the paper increased along with the increasing of moisture content in calendaring process. The crystallinity reached up to the maximum of 71.17% increased by 59.39% compared with the dry paper when the moisture content was 120%. In addition, the mechanical and electrical properties of paraaramid paper was also improved.

环保型高固含量湿强剂

摘 要:以硅烷偶联剂KH560对传统湿强剂聚酰胺多胺环氧氯丙烷(PAE)树脂进行化学改性,并对上述反应体系进行了有效的后处理以降低有机氯含量,制备了一种新型环保型高固含量湿强剂CPAE树脂。与未改性PAE相比,使用CPAE树脂后,在1.0%用量下抄纸,纸张湿强度明显提高,抗张指数从41.0 N·m/g增加到51.3 N·m/g,提高了25.1%;湿抗张指数从8.11 N·m/g增加到15.5 N·m/g,提高了91.1%;抗张强度保留率从19.8%增加到30.2%,提高了52.5%。与市售PAE相比,CPAE固含量从12.5%提高到30%;CPAE经有机胺进行后处理后,有机氯含量由市售PAE的5%降低到0.5%以下。

Preparetion of Environmentally Friendly High Solid Content CPAE Wetstrength AgentFAN Dan* LI Xiaorui WANG Haihua LIU Yan

Abstract:The low chlorine polyamideamineepichlorohydrin resin (CPAE) was prepared by modification of traditional PAE with KH560 and effective post treatment, the new type of environmentally friendly high solid content wet strengthening agent CPAE resin could further improve the chemical bonding between the paper fibers, and the wet tensile index and dry tensile index of the paper could improved simultaneously. Compared with traditional PAE agent, the CPAE wet strength agent could obviously improved the paper dry tensile index by 25.1% from 41.0 N·m/g to 51.3 N·m/g, wet tensile index by 91.1% from 8.11 N·m/g to 15.5 N·m/g, and retention rate of tensile strength up by 52.5% from 19.8% to 30.2% when the CPAE dosage was 1%(on oven fibers). Compared with PAE, the solid content of CPAE increased form 12.5% to 30%. After treatment, the content of organic chtorine decreased from 5% of PAE to 0.5%.

高强高模聚乙烯醇纤维对

摘 要:探讨了高强高模聚乙烯醇(HSHMPVA)纤维长度及其排列对纸张性能和经酸碱处理、壳聚糖涂敷的HSHMPVA纤维对纸张性能的影响。结果表明,纸张裂断长和撕裂指数随着HSHMPVA纤维长度的增加而提高;但HSHMPVA纤维用量增加,纸张的横向裂断长和撕裂指数均会有所下降;酸碱处理的HSHMPVA纤维对纸张增强效果为:酸处理>碱处理;壳聚糖涂敷HSHMPVA纤维对纸张有显著增强效果。

Effect of High Strength and High Modulus Polyevinyl Alcohol Fiber
on the Mechanical Properties of HandsheetXU Feiqiang ZHANG Fangdong* WANG Biao

Abstract:In this work, dynamic sheet former (DSF) was used to simulate the process of layered papermaking on multilayer inclined wire former. The effects of HSHMPVA fiber length and arrangement on the mechanical properties of handsheet were studied. In addition, different treatments for HSHMPVA fiber and its effects on handsheet properties were also investigated, including chitosan coating, acid treatment and alkali treatment. Results showed that breaking length and tear index increased with increasing the HSHMPVA fiber length; however, the amount increase of HSHMPVA in the system could lead to decrease the cross direction breaking length and tear index of handsheet. Moreover, the acid treatment had more positive effect on the mechanical properties of handsheet than the alkali treatment. HSHMPVA with chitosan coating had significant enhancement effect.

细菌纤维素的制备及其

摘 要:探讨了以秸秆水解液作为唯一碳源生产细菌纤维素的工艺参数,并考察了细菌纤维素湿膜对漂白硫酸盐阔叶木浆(LBKP)纸张性能的影响。实验结果表明,以秸秆水解液作为唯一碳源,采用动静两步法制备细菌纤维素的最大产量为4.27 g/L;细菌纤维素湿膜添加到LBKP中能够明显提高纸张抗张指数、撕裂指数、耐破指数、耐折度、透气度等物理性能。

Abstract:Bacterial cellulose was prepared by using straw hydrolysate which was the only carbon source, then physical properties of the LBKP paper adding wet bacterial cellulose were studied. The result showed that the max dry production of bacterial cellulose was 4.27 g/L. Using twostep fermentation process with straw hydrolysate as carbon source, the physical properties of the paper adding the wet bacterial cellulose including tensile index, tear index, burst index, folding endurance and air permeability were obviously improved.

微晶纤维素制备过程中纤维素

摘 要:纤维素的超分子结构是由分子链排列整齐、有规则的结晶区和分子链排列松散、无规则的无定形区交错结合组成的。通过研究HCl在不同反应时间阶段(20~120 min)降解纤维素的特性,在HCl浓度2.5 mol/L,反应温度80℃,固液比1∶15,搅拌器转速120 r/min的条件下,纤维素选择性酸水解的最佳反应时间为60 min,此条件下水解纤维素的得率达96.04%,纤维素的聚合度、结晶度由661、58.92%变为99、76.01%。此外,长纤维和细小纤维平均长度分别为288、59 μm,细小纤维含量达90.31%。

Changes of Structure and Morphological Characteristics of Cellulose during

Abstract:The supramolecular structure of cellulose is consisted of the crystalline region and amorphous region, the molecular chains of the former are wellregulated, while that of the latter are ruleless. Based on the study of the properties of cellulose degraded by HCl in different reaction time stages (20~120 min), under the constant condition of HCl concentration 2.5 mol/L, reaction temperature 80℃, solidtoliquid ratio 1∶15, rotating speed 120 r/min, the optimal reaction time was 60 min for selective hydrolysis of cellulose. The results showed that the yield of hydrocellulose could reach to 96.04%, its polymerization degree and crystallinity charged from 661 and 58.92% before hydrolysis to 99 and 76.01%, respectively, under the optimal reaction time of 60 min. Furthermore, the average length of fibers and fines were 288 μm, 59 μm, respectively, and the fines content reached to 90.13%.

氧气离子液体预处理对

摘 要:以麦草为原料,探讨了氧气(O2)离子液体(1乙基3甲基咪唑醋酸盐,[Emim]Ac)预处理工艺条件,以期提高麦草的酶解效率。结果显示,较适宜的O2[Emim]Ac预处理条件为:固液比1∶1.5,氧压0.4 MPa,温度130℃,处理时间6 h。在此条件下,经过O2[Emim]Ac预处理的麦草酶解(酶解条件为:纤维素酶用量30 U/g原料,酶解时间72 h)还原糖得率为65.1%,高于未经预处理麦草酶解还原糖得率5倍以上。扫描电镜、X射线衍射和红外光谱分析表明,O2[Emim]Ac预处理后麦草纤维表面粗糙,孔隙增加,结构疏松,结晶度降低12.6%。

Improving Enzymatic Hydrolysis Efficiency of Wheat Straw by Oxygenionic

Abstract:The combined pretreatment of oxygen and ionic liquid [Emim]Ac to improve the enzymatic hydrolysis efficiency of wheat straw was investigated in this paper. Results showed that the optimal conditions were: ratio of solid to liquid 1∶1.5, oxygen pressure 0.4 MPa, temperature 130 ℃ and treatment time 6 h. Under such conditions, the reducing sugar yield of 65.1% was obtained at cellulase dosage of 30 U/g and enzymatic hydrolysis time 72 h, which was 5 times higher than the unpretreated raw material. Characterization of the treated wheat straw by SEM, XRD and FTIR analysis showed that its surface became rough and porous, and the crystallinity decreased by 12.6%.

玉米芯水解残渣中纤维素和

摘 要:以玉米芯水解残渣为原料,采用碱性H2O2和NaClO2两段法处理,以纤维素含量与木素脱除率为指标,对纤维素和木素的分离纯化工艺进行了实验探讨。结果表明,碱性H2O2处理段较适宜的条件为:混合液中NaOH用量3%,H2O2用量0.8%和反应温度80℃;NaClO2处理段较适宜的条件为:NaClO2浓度12 g/L,处理温度70℃;经过以上两段处理,玉米芯水解残渣中纤维素含量为84.73%,木素脱除率高达91.11%,分离纯化效果最佳。

Abstract:In order to upgrade the utilization value of corncob hydrolysis residue(CHR) and separate and purify cellulose and lignin from CHR, CHR was treated by two stages treatment of alkali H2O2 and NaClO2, using the cellulose content and the removal rate of lignin as evaluation index to optimize the treatment process. The results showed that the optimal conditions were H2O2 dosage of 0.8%, NaOH dosage of 3%, reaction temperature of 80℃, and NaClO2 concentration of 12 g/L, temperature of 70℃ for the two stages treatment. Under this conditions, the content of cellulose was 84.73% and the removal rate of lignin was 91.11%, it reached the best separation and purification efficiency.

三聚氰胺甲醛树脂预聚阶段

摘 要:为有效监控三聚氰胺甲醛树脂预聚阶段中单体转化率的变化,本文考察了三聚氰胺甲醛树脂预聚阶段的反应时间(t)、反应温度(T)和n(三聚氰胺)∶n(甲醛)(r)对甲醛单体转化率的影响。研究发现,树脂预聚阶段中甲醛单体转化率与时间呈对数关系,与温度呈线性关系,与n(三聚氰胺)∶n(甲醛)呈二次函数关系;据此建立了甲醛单体转化率的预测模型,即:R=(0.125T-3.43)·(-27.2r2+22.0r-3.30)·ln(0.317t+1)。结果表明,该模型可有效描述反应过程中甲醛单体转化率的变化,与实际检测值之间有很好的相关性(R2=0.993)。因此,该模型可对三聚氰胺甲醛树脂的预聚过程进行很好的预测,进而为生产和控制提供指导。

 A Prediction Model for Monomer Conversion in the Presynthesis Process of Melamineformaldehyde ResinXIE Weiqi CHAI Xinsheng*

Abstract:The aim of this study was to develop a predictive model to monitor the change of monomer conversion rate during the presynthesis process of melamineformaldehyde resin. The effects of process parameters (reaction time, temperature and melamine/formaldehyde mole ratio) on the monomer conversion rate were investigated. The results showed that monomer conversion rate had an alogarithmical linear relationship with time, a linear relationship with temperature and a quadratic function relationship with the reciprocal of mole ratio of the monomers.Based on these relationships, an predictive model, R=(0.125T-3.43)×(-27.2r2+22.0r-3.30)×ln(0.317t+1), was developed to predict the monomer conversion rate of formaldehyde during the synthesis process. A good linear correlation (R2=0.993) between the predictive value and practical determination, indicated that the model had good accuracy and reliability for predicting the monomer conversion rate during the synthesis process. The developed model could provide a useful guideline for the production of melamineformaldehyde resin.

中国造纸业国际贸易摩擦的

摘 要:针对我国造纸企业遭遇日益频繁的国际贸易摩擦问题,在更完整的时域和视域下深入研究各种相关因素的作用机理,提出系统化的应对措施。首先构建国际贸易摩擦的动因状态影响响应(DSIR)机理模型作为研究框架。然后,根据DSIR模型依次对我国造纸及纸制品业所涉及的反倾销、反补贴和保障措施等进行历史事件和当前动向的状态(S)分析、动因(D)分析、未来状态(S)的趋势预测、影响(I)效应分析。最后综合以上结果,研究我国造纸业应对国际贸易摩擦的响应(R)措施,形成企业、行业和政府多层面的一体化防护体系。

Researches on DSIR Mechanism of International Trade Frictions with Regard to Chinese Paper IndustryZHANG Zhiguang* LIAO Bing

Abstract:The interaction mechanism of various factors about more and more international trade frictions in recent years with regard to Chinese paper mills was researched systematically in a more complete domain in time and view. Firstly, driverstateimpactresponse (DSIR) mechanism model about international trade frictions was esteblishes as a research framework for the paper. Then according to the DSIR model, the state (S) of old and new events, driving (D) factors, future state (S) and impact (I) effect about antidumping, antisubsidy and safeguard measures to Chinese paper industry were studied respectively. Finally, response (R) measures for Chinese paper industry against international trade frictions were proposed on the basis of the study results, forming an integrated protection system covering the levels of enterprise, industry and government.

摘 要:针对以往低压控制系统中出现的可靠性、软起动器使用寿命和可维护性差的问题,采用软起动器二拖多的控制方式对各台需要启动的电机进行控制。通过分析二拖多控制系统的组成特点,提出了软起动器二拖多冗余式控制和交替式控制策略,并对这两种控制策略进行了理论分析。最后通过现场应用证明这种控制策略的可行性。

Abstract:In view of the poor reliability, service life and maintainability of the low voltage control system, the control method of two drive more for the soft starter was used to control the motors which need to startup. Through analyzing the characteristics of the two drive more control system, the soft starter two drive more redundant control and alternate control strategies were put forward, and the theoretical analysis for these two control strategies were carried out. The feasibility of the control strategy was proved by field application.

摘 要:在建立气垫式流浆箱数学模型的基础上,利用神经网络原理设计了神经网络解耦控制器。根据总压和浆位给定值以及其输出值,通过自学习、调整网络权值来实现闭环控制的神经网络解耦控制思路,将强耦合的总压和浆位分解为两个单回路PID闭环控制系统。采用PID控制算法对解耦后的两个单回路闭环系统进行常规控制。实际运行效果表明,该控制系统可使总压和浆位的调整互不影响,且系统稳定。

The Analysis and Application of Decoupling Control for Aircushion Head BoxLIU Wenhua

Abstract:On the basis of the established mathematical model of aircushion head box neural network decoupling controller was designed based on neural network principle. According to the total pressure, a given value of pulp suspensions level and its output value, through selfstudy, adjusting the network weights to realize closed loop control of neural network decoupling control, the strong coupled total pressure and pulp suspensions level was decomposed into two single loop PID closedloop control systems. It successfully solved the control difficult of strong coupling of total pressure and pulp suspensions level.

摘 要:对改进后卷纸机的机械结构、液压加压过程进行了分析并建立了数学模型,以便用PLC对在卷的纸卷进行恒线压控制。通过在初级臂、次级臂转动处各安装上角位移传感器以分别获得一个角度值,再将此角度值信号输入到PLC,PLC依据数学模型进行运算,给比例减压阀一个控制信号,分别控制支承油缸的压力值、次级臂油缸有杆腔的压力值,使之随动变化,使得卷纸辊线压力恒定不变,以确保卷纸不起皱,保证卷纸质量。

Control Method for Paper Reeling Machine Based on Hydraulic Proportional ValveWANG Xiaocong* HUANG Huichun WANG Ying WANG Zewen

Abstract:This paper analyzed the mechanical structure of an improved paper reeler and hydraulic pressing process. The mathematical model was established in order to use PLC controlling paper roll with constant linear pressure in the reeling process. Angle values were measured by angular displacement sensors which were installed on the rotating positions of primary arm and secondary arm, respectively. Then the angle value signals were input to the PLC and processed based on the mathematical model, the control signals were sent to the proportional valves. The support cylinder pressure value and the pressure value of the chamber with rod in secondary arm cylinder were controlled accordingly. This method made the paper reel pressure constant therefore to ensure the paper quality without wrinkling.

磨浆机磨片的新型成型工艺

摘 要:介绍了近年来出现的纸浆磨浆机磨片新型成型工艺和表面强化方法。总结磨片的成型工艺对磨片使用寿命的影响。磨片的新型成型工艺包括磨片的整体式和复合式成型工艺。磨片的整体式成型工艺主要有覆膜铸造和数控铣削;磨片的复合式成型工艺主要是将磨齿与磨片基体分开制造,然后用镶嵌、焊接和二次铸造成型等方式将磨齿与磨片基体连接成一个整体。叙述了磨片表面强化的方法,如爆炸喷涂、火焰喷涂、激光熔覆、涂镀和激光烧结等。

New Forming Technology and Surface Reinforcement of Pulp Refiner PlateGUO Juan* WANG Ping

Abstract:There are some new techniques in the forming and surface reinforcement of pulp refiner plate recently. Firstly the influence of forming technology of refiner plate on its working life was introduced, then the new reinforcement technology was described in detail, finally the integral and composite forming technologies were elucidated. The integral forming technology mainly includes film coated casting and CNC milling. The composite forming technology includes manufacturing the bar and disk substrate separately and then fabricating the blade bar and the substrate into a whole by using the way of inlaying, welding and second casting. Meanwhile, the paper briefly introduced surface reinforcement methods for refiner plate such as explosion spraying, flame spraying, laser cladding, plating, laser sintering and so on.

1,4丁二醇蒸煮法分离

摘 要:以1,4丁二醇为试剂,采用高温蒸煮技术分离玉米秸秆中的木素。结果表明,较优的分离条件为:1,4丁二醇质量分数90%,反应温度160℃,液比1∶10,保温时间1.5 h,硫酸用量0.15 mL/g绝干原料。此条件下木素提取率为89.2%,相对于绝干原料的得率为18.2%。红外光谱分析显示,蒸煮过程中木素官能团没有明显变化,可以保证提取的木素进一步功能化应用。

Lignin Separation from Corn Stalk Using 1,4ButanediolWANG Xuejiao* YANG Guihua CHEN Jiachuan

Abstract:Corn stalk, as the main agricultural residual in China, can be realized the fully utilization of its three main components by developing the lignin separation technology. High boiling solvent of 1,4butanediol was selected as cooking solvent to separate lignin from corn stalk in this study. The optimal cooking conditions were: 1,4butanediol 90% (mass fraction), cooking temperature 160℃, solid/liquid ratio 1∶10, time at maximum temperature 1.5 h, dosage of concentrated sulfuric acid 0.15 mL/g (on the oven dried raw material). The highest lignin extraction rate was 89.2%, corresponding to 18.2% on the oven dried raw material. Additionally, no significant change of the functional groups of lignin was verified by FTIR, it provided the potential for downstream application.

Paper Product Group, ABB  China Pulp & Paper: The topic of ABB Automation World China 2016 is “Smart Technology, Intelligence Upgrading”, as one of traditional manufacturing industries, pulp and paper industry needs smart technologies to upgrade. Would you please introduce some typical ABB smart products or technologies used in paper industry?Mr. James T. Fisher: We are talking about smart technologies now, but smart technology is not something new to ABB. Actually, ABB has been at the forefront of intelligent technology for many years. Well before the development of Internet of Things, ABB had probably the most sophisticated process measurement device found in a paper mill, the Quality Control System (QCS). The ABB Quality Control System is a key part of the papermaking process providing intelligence, not just about the process for control purposes, but also about the “health” of the system itself. ABB, as the inventor of QCS developed the QCS  in 1970s, to provide data needed in a paper mill to make it work efficiently. Today about 35% paper machines of the world use ABBs QCS. Other companies use off the shelf components to measure the sheet, but ABB using proprietary technology actually measures, classifies and counts every visible spec of dirt in a sheet at the camera level.   China Pulp & Paper: Nowadays, one very popular word is “Industry 4.0”. “Industry 4.0” could help manufacturing industries update and achieve smart manufacturing. As one of automation, electric and drive suppliers, what services does ABB provide to pulp and paper enterprises to help them achieve “Industry 4.0”?Mr. James T. Fisher: The thinking around “Industry 4.0” and making all devices “connected” and thus much more data available are very important to fully understand and optimize the papermaking process. A key thing to remember however is the quality of the data that is made available. Bad decision resulting from bad data is not a good thing. This is where ABB stands out with the most advanced measurement technology available on the market today. Our customers can trust that the large quantities of data that we generate for analysis is accurate and precise. More than 70% paper mills of the world use ABB products or services. How does ABB achieve that?Mr. James T. Fisher: I think there are three important things that have allowed us the privilege of 70% paper mills to use our products or services. Firstly, we have good people who can describe how much value our customers get from ABBs products and systems. These people from ABB focus on paper industry and understand the business. We have a great team in China, which I have mentioned previously. Secondly, providing reliable and high quality products. Because costumers we sell to are trying to make paper every minute. Unplanned downtime during papermaking costs a lot of money, so reliable and high quality products are very important to them. The third thing is customers trust. The paper mill is a challenging environment. Many things may happen at the same time. Things will break and we help customers to things fixed and get them running quickly again. Therefore, customers trust us to help them maintain production and help them restart it again if a problem occurs. In a word, professinal people, reliable and high quality products, and customers trust help us to get 70% paper mills to order from ABB.Mr. LIN Shuming: People, service, and products are the key we got that figure. During ABB Automation World, one of our customer said their scanning framer has been used for more than 20 years, but it still runs efficiently. What ABB sells is not only products, but also services. What customers consider is not only the shortterm investment, but also the longterm investment return.  China Pulp & Paper: ABB Quality Control System and Web Imaging System Factory opened in Shanghai in 2010. It has been more than 5 years since its opening, how does it work at present? Fisher: The initial transition of our QCS and WIS factory from Ireland to China involved significant assistance from our teams in Ireland and Finland. We successfully implemented a clearly defined plan to transfer the skills and deep knowledge required to build quality systems to our team in China by initially embedding experts from Ireland and Finland.  Today our China factory team stands alone with no expatriates from either Finland or Ireland. Our Pulp and Paper factory in China can deliver QCS Systems, QCS Sensors, Scanning Frames, Actuators and Web Inspection Systems. We are currently adding our new Web Monitoring Systems to the factory as well. Since opening, approximately 250 scanners have been shipped to our customers around the world from ABB QCS and WIS Shanghai factory. I am very proud of what our China factory team has accomplished, and as a result, we are well positioned for continued success in the future!Mr. LIN Shuming: Our factory in China is the single source of production for pulp and paper industry, insuring the highest quality and avoiding regional differences.   China Pulp & Paper: At present, Chinas economy is facing downward pressure, the growth rate of Chinas paper industry slows down, and the industry needs transfomation and stucture adjustment. Fisher: Starting from 2008, paper industry entered a recession the likes of which many of us have never seen, and it unfortunately lasted until recent years. It centainly had an impact on all of us. In China, the growth rate decreased a lot compared to previous years, while its still a higher rate if compared to that of Europe or America. The paper industry in China is shifting now. Small mills who cannot afford to make significant investment are being shut down, but that is giving more business to larger mills that buy services and systems from ABB, actually resulting in a growth in business as a result. It is only the rate of growth that has slowed down, the economy continues to expand in China, and that expandation is putting new demands on paper industry. I think the best papermakers, the largest mills are the ones who are going to get benefit from the shift. The remaining paper manufacturers need efficient and competitive technologies and services to help them remain competitive. ABB is helping Chinas pulp and paper companies get the highest return on the investment they have made in ABB systems by helping them optimize their process. By harnessing the full potential of the ABB systems that our customers have already installed, we are helping to reduce cost and increase quality.As an example, we have recently introduced the OPT800 family of Advanced Controls. We can very cost effectively update the control of existing ABB control systems with new, “state of the art” advanced control systems and make the longterm optimization and service support available remotely. Using the previously discussed ServicePort, a feature named Loopscan, can quickly analyze thousands of control loops and determine the key loops to be addressed to keep the process in operating in an optimum condition. The paper industry is under a lot of cost pressure, and small things like keeping key loops tuned properly can save significant amounts of money! All of this is accomplished by adding a simple remote service capability to our Internet of Things.Mr. LIN Shuming: OPT800 is a product of Advanced Process Control. It enables effective plant management by making use of the information already in automation system to control and optimize the operations for pulp and paper mills. Plant of ABB QCS & WIS Factory  China Pulp & Paper: Recent years, some new markets spring up. Does ABB plan to move to these markets?Mr. James T. Fisher: For ABB, our goal is to be close to our customers. We have professional engineers from these countries to serve these areas, but the center of paper business in Asia is China. That is the reason why our QCS and WIS factory stand at Shanghai. We have R&D teams in Singapore, Ireland, Finland and Sweden, but China is in the center of core of our business. Mr. LIN Shuming: As China is the country with the largest growth rate of paper industry around the world, China is always the center of AsiaPacific market of ABB. There are new markets in some other Asia countries, we have local service team to support in these areas. But for some large projects,  many still need the surport of our Chinese team. After all, the Chinese team is the most comprehensive one in AsiaPacific.  China Pulp & Paper: What is the ABBs strategy to expand pulp and papermaking market in future?Mr. James T. Fisher: Firstly, ABB is continuing to invest in our research and development. We are making sure our existing customer base can cost effectively take advantage of our new technologies. We are currently investing in R&D for our QCS system at approximately twice the rate of our nearest competitor. Secondly, remaining focused on being cost efficient and competitive also. ABB has not to be the cheapest or lowest price products supplier, but we have to be the reasonable brand with the highest value. That is what we will continue to do.Thirdly, we are also focusing on the service business that is available and investing in service as products. We will continue to provide the best services to customers and make sure their paper machines run as best as they can all the time. Our services products are all designed to keep problems from occurring, efficiently diagnose problems that do occur, and quickly implement the solutions that will sustain the performance over time.
